Best Server but most unstable. (LOCKED)

Hello all,
I'm reasonably new to Minecraft servers and I have a question about the WoM SMP Server. Why is it so unstable? I am genuinely interested because there seems to be hundreds of other servers out there that all seem to be much more stable than this one. They also have so many more players and still they remain fairly constant.
The WoM SMP Server is by far the best one I have found yet, if it would stay up for any length of time. All the other servers seem to be hideously overpopulated making it impossible to find anywhere to build.
If I could find a more stable server that was as good as this one then I would move there as this server is just to unreliable. Lucky for WoM I have not yet found another server that even comes close.

I think the best people to ask about this is our admins on the server H4X or MrSnowGlobe.
Some of the plugins we use cause lag on the server because of the way the plugin works or as in some of the plugins, they are poorly written. It would be nice if we could have our own custom written plugins.
