A server reset is NOT going to happen for a while. After very little googling i came across this tweet from Dinnerbone https://twitter.com/dinnerbone/status/473804594930536448 check it out for youself and NOTE when it was posted. We still have a couple months folks.

Don't forget that even with snapshots and dev builds if they release it like the last one there will be a significant wait while bukkit & server plugins and mods etc catch up.

yes i know your still going to reset this is just so people dont have to worry for a while
and yes thats going to add ALOT more time
Edit: In other words just play the server because its going to be quite a while until 1.8

No server needs to reset for this. Wanting to reset or use it as an excuse, well sure.. but the amount of misinformation surrounding updates is too dam high.

We do a server reset every major update. Main reason is because the map generation code changes.

I've been tracking 1.8s progress very closely and World of Minecraft is prepared for 1.8 (as much as we can be for now)
I'd give it until the start of august until we see a pre release!

Fox, 2 is actually the definition of a couple. People may use it more generally than that, but to say that 2 months is "hardly a couple" is just wrong. If he was thinking 4-5 months, dinnerbone would most likely have said a few instead.
