Error: Failed to run minecraft???

So I read the readme a million times and did what it said to the letter. I went to the website and downloaded the Minecraft.jar file (not the Minecraft.exe) and put it in the lib folder. Now every time i try to click run it comes up with this error.

Please help i have no idea what to do.
