Hello all,
I've been playing Minecraft for a few months now and I'm amazed how far Java has been stretched to create this game. So I'm making a mineclone. I'd like to create a simple infinite terrain with placing and breaking blocks. Mobs and other complex things would be added later. For starters I'd love to see if anyone here would know how to or where to find a terrain generation algorithm in Java.

By the way...
At the moment I'm not doing this to make money or anything it's just for experience and I think it's pretty awesome to play a game that you can edit and you created yourself. So please don't shoot me down saying I'm making a copy of Minecraft so I can sell it and I hope to make millions of dollars. Because it's not happening. I'm still learning Java so if I seem a little dull when it comes to Java terms and ideas that's just my newness. But I spent a while studying C++ and I find Java easy to learn. Just clarifying.

Thanks,
Sly14Cat

I can't help you with your request sorry.

Just note, as long as you don't start distributing it, or claiming it is Minecraft, then there is nothing wrong, just make sure it doesn't get past the "personal project" stage.

Haha. Well actually as long

Haha. Well actually as long as I don't use the name "Minecraft" or any of thier texture packs, code or any other parts of the game, I'm allowed to legally market it. But thanks for the support I'll try my best and be sure to come back here.
