Introduction o.o :

Ok so this is my first blog entry. I've decided to make a blog to un-officially update WoM'ers about WoM happenings, and i think keeping members updated can bring the community closer together. Feel free to leave any thoughts in a comment such as anything about the blog itself (too long? needs more pictures? ^.^) to what you would like to hear more about such as maps (when well this server be reset? what are the plans for the next map for this server?), rules that are being made and tweaked, future plans, etc. You can also leave suggestions on anything wom related. Hopefully i won't be the only staff member reading them.

Introduction continued ~(o.o)~ :

If you'd like you can think of this blog as a kind of behind the scenes thing for any of you WoM'ers interested, personally i don't think you guys know enough about the awesome stuff we (staff) do daily. As i'm writing this iv'e just been informed we already have an official womblog http://womblog.net/ (thank you womstaff for keeping me updated). But mine will be different the main difference being mine won't be a "WoM Blog" I showed a preview of this to womstaff and they say this has too much stuff that isn't WoM related to be a WoM Blog and i agree, this will simply be a blog by executive BxB about stuff (Explanation for the Title). Reasons mine will be better: 1) It will be written by me. 2) It will be updated much more frequently, with more information than you actually need (you'll feel like one of the staff). 3) You won't need to go to another website. 4) I'm cool guy. And you guys can leave comments here (comments would actually be much appreciated. I don't know how members feel about WoM and the WoM community)

About BlackxBird (BxB) :

So now on to a little info about yours truly, if you're going to be reading a blog written by me than you should know a little about me. I'll start off with some generic info, i'm 17, i live in the U.S., i've been playing minecraft for almost a year now. WoM was my first server (but not the only server i visit) i joined at the same time as jonnyabc (we went to the same middle school and he showed me minecraft).
I play plenty of computer games outside of minecraft on my steam account. All members are welcome to join WoM's steam group, where you might be able to catch some staff playing Team Fortress 2 and join in.

Time for some news ^_^ :

Enough about me (i'm sure you'll get a feel for who i am as i continue to update this blog). I'll dive right in with some stuff thats happened today.
As most of you know Survival Multiplayer, SMP for short (thanks to this acronym Owner SMP is getting pelted with pings in irc, funny at first but it's a little old now), went up publically yesterday i only played for a minute or two since not many staff members were on (everything is more fun with womstaff), you can read more info about it in Notch's blog http://notch.tumblr.com/.

A member made a few minor edits to a players build seeing as i, like WoM, am big on second chances i wasn't about to let something so small lead to the demotion of a WoM member, i wanted to warn him but he wasn't on (this happens frequently) all i could do at the time was note him and hope he doesn't do it again or that i see him sometime soon (using pronouns rather than his username intentionally). This led me to the idea for a new command O.O /mail...  if staff had this command i would have been able to send him a message that he would recieve the next time he joined. /mail would be something no other custom server software has. /mail would work like /note works now, you would type /mail (name) [the info you want to send], then when that user joins he can type /mail to read anything sent to him or it could be shown to him as soon as he joins (as you all know there isnt room for much text in in-game chat so anything mailed would have to be kept short and sweet). I brought it up in womstaff's irc channel (i'll call it #womadmins from now on since thats the channels name and its shorter), now just to wait and see if its deemed necessary and if it will be the next command womstaff will have. Keep in mind guys this was just a thought, i don't know anything about programming so i have no idea how difficult this will be. I try to push new commands every other day, just about all of them turn out being unnecessary. With everything we're currently working on this most likely won't happen any time soon if at all (next time i'll share a bit of what it is we are working on).

A player named DiggerNicks joined WoM: Main while i was on, now there wasn't technically anything inappropriate with the name so i didn't tell him to change it, but i brought it up in #womadmins and no one thought it should be allowed so InvisiblePerson quickly made a minor change to WoM's rules page: "Any family unfriendly word or seemingly family unfriendly word." seemingly was the keyword in this case.

We still get dozens of posts daily on the forums of people asking questions about how to get the client to work or about running your own server many of these questions have already been answered so help WoMStaff save some time and don't forget to search the forums for keywords before asking questions ^_^.

That's all i'll be including in this post, please don't forget to leave comments!

Does a Staff Member have free time too?

Sounds like the staff really got a lot of daily practical work to do. The /mail command is a good idea. Are you moderating on any specific server or just any WoM server in general?
