I downloaded the client and downloaded the minecraft.jar file and put it in the correct location, but whenever I try to join a server with the client, I get an error window that says "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: input == null!". I've tried reinstalling Graphics drivers and I've tried reinstalling Java 6, but it will not work. Any ideas?

Sigh..

Same problem here, don't expect any help, the only response I got was some 6 years old kid saying.. "That's not an error and is in no way related to World of Minecraft"
OF COURSE IT IS, its stated in dos prompt when loading the .bat!
I hope you get a real answer for both our sakes.

I've had this error in both

I've had this error in both the World of Minecraft client and the default game. Here's the Java console entry for the default client failing, whether this is the same for the command prompt, I don't know.

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: input == null!
at
javax.imageio.ImageIO.read(Unknown Source)
at
com.mojang.minecraft.e.l.<init>(Unknown Source)
at
com.mojang.minecraft.l.run(Unknown Source)
at
java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

All of whatever I can update is up to date, and I've tried any and all fixes stated on the official support forum (haven't check too hard on here yet).

This error is then related

This error is then related only to Minecraft, not the client. You will probably get a faster answer at the Minecraft Forums.

Yeah see, I've got this

Yeah see, I've got this problem as well. It only happens in the WoMclient. It doesn't happen from the web client.

I also have this error,

I also have this error, except that it also occurs at the web client.  I've reinstalled Java about 6 times, updated my video drivers, updated Windows (XP), tried 3 different browsers, emptied my cache and temporary files, and it gives me this error, without fail, right after the "Switching Applets" text displays.
