Pop up Lock up

After the new update, my java pop up suddenly stopped working, and i had to download the new version and change the -xmsM value in the .bat file. Now I can choose and select a server, but it apparantly crashes whenever its about to show the load screen with the MOTD.
and I guess you should know my computer kinda sucks, its from like 2004. I read it has 256 RAM which sucks, but the older java pop up before the server update worked fine
