TMI is unusable unless you have permissions for /give or /item on a server. I'm sure that using a mod that doesn't change your gameplay is fine. Such as; minimap, texturepacks, sound mods, etc, won't be seen as a banned offense. 

Pretty much what Artbot said. If you try to use TMI it will simply say that you do not have permission to use this. As long as the mod or whatever doesn't affect your gameplay then it's fine, such as fly hacks and realistic movement is not allowed.
