Theres been quite a bit of discussion on the server about the map reset that is coming up when 1.7 is released, so I thought I'd take this time to clear things up and let everyone know exactly what will happen. This will only take effect once the server updates to 1.7, including all of our plugins.
Balances will be reset for everyone when the new server starts. This allows us to reboot the economy, and hopefully add in a few new features that will make the economy a more useful part of the World of Minecraft experience.
Build Moves Will be limited to 1 build per person. This will be done through a forum post that each player will need to post in with the coords of their build, and the new coords of where they want their build to go. The size of the build moves has not been determined, however large farms and grinders will not be allowed. Also, Chests and other containers will be empty when pasted onto the new map.
One Chest per person will be able to be moved. MrSnowGlobe has came up with a way to allow players to do this themselves. So start deciding what your most important things to carry over with you! More on this when the time comes.
Now for the interesting part: The 1.7 server will be opening up early for players who do not want their build or inventories to be moved! These people will have to start completely from scratch, no supplies, no money, nothing. However, joining the server before the general public will give them the best access to things like claim positions right near spawn, and if they're talented enough, maybe even kill the dragon and get the dragon egg in this time.
These people WILL NOT be able to rejoin the 1.6.2 server once they have accessed the 1.7 server. The server will open approximately 1 week before the server opens to the general public.
NOTE: All Winnings for the current contest will be given on the new server. Anyone who has a beacon or dragon egg on the current server can keep it and have it moved over when they start from scratch, however this is the only thing anyone will be allowed to keep.

is there going to be some way to bring horses over as well? or will everyone need to find new ones?

No mobs will be transfered to the new map. So horses will probably be valuable for the first person to find and breed them.

I like the idea of an inventory move. All my important stuff fits in one chest so it will fit in my inventory with room to spare.
One question though, will our money be moved with us?

No Balances will be transfered.
Armor you are wearing will not be transferred.
Remember, you only get the inventory and build move if you do not go to the 1.7 server early. So anyone who moves their inventory will most likely not be able to claim a spot right at spawn. And it's possible the dragon egg could be taken in the first week if people move fast.
So choosing to move your inventory is a bit of a gamble!

I'm pretty sure this will be my last question. Is it alraight if we just place different blocks we want to move in our house for transferral? Like having a clump of gold blocks in the middle of your floor so they get transferred without taking up space?

To make things clear:
Player data will not be moved, only builds or a small chunk of your inventory will make it to the new 1.7 server. We are rebuilding and reconfiguring SMP's systems for 1.7. Nothing drastic will be changed, we will change add or remove things that seem logical.
As for a 1.7 release date: your guess is as good as mine. Last I herd was a late September release but we will keep you guys in the loop if I hear more

Turns out I was wrong guys, the amount of stuff you can take over is only the size of one chest, not one inventory. My bad. I updated the original post.
As for placing items down in your build, go ahead, but remember, staff will only move builds of a reasonable size. And you will still have to join the server a week after anyone who doesn't take their build.

One chest.... That's why I didn't say one double chest. That would be 27 Item Spots per person. Each item spot can hold up to 1 stack of an item.

Would i be able to have a keepsake framed map of my town in my home when its moved to the new server? Would it keep the old map's image? Or do you think it would just reset to the new map? For that matter, does anyone know if the item frame would even transfer?

Item frames won't transfer when the build is copied. I'm not sure if putting the map in the stuff you move over would work, we would need to test that.

We all get to have a new beginning with or without our house and, lone chest! It the one move that you can't take you pet with you, lol.
Yes some of us have been there and done that. It is really good fun to go and look for new land on the new map. Then await for your nice house to be delivered on to your new claim. I will be looking forward for the move.
For those of you who haven't had your house moved to a new map before then you are in for a treat. Be mindful though, that the bigger your build the longer you'll wait. Admin like to move all the smaller build first before all the bigger one.

will be using like world edit's copy and paste? if so would it be easier if i set ahead of time blocks to make easy click copy for transfer?
my build is 32x32 by 100 or so high (havent quite finished roof yet.
relatively square.
anyhow if preseting blocks for copy & paste would make it easier for staff to move please let me know.

Hi Falon73 here. avid player not so long time reader of forums.
anyhow I have a build that I have been bugging staff about I would liked transfered.
I have gone ahead with Sonardo's instructions and placed Glowstone blocks oppisite corners of each other. To help make it more visiable and easier for staff conducting the transfer to copy and paste. to the new server.
The Question I have is, Where should we post our info about the build we want transfered, Such as current location of the build (X,Y,Z) cords.
Here? or should we just post somewhere else on the forums?
2nd question with out playing early on the 1.7map how will we know where to have you move it to if we have no way to find the location?

After the map has been open for a week for the people who chose to move early, the map will open up for everyone else. No build moves will start until after that week is over, and after everyone is able to get on the map.

Shadowgoul, some people (and I agree with it) have sugested putting a glowstone block at the corners to help MrSnowGlobe identify exactly what he is cutting out to help facilitate the process.

What. If you organized what we were moving after we actually moved it, how we would know what to move when we were moving it? This comment confused me.

Some of us may fill our house up with some blocks, eg; diamonds, iron, wood or clay. So as to move some extra supplies along with the house but burying the chests full of stuff in various rooms in the process.
Now will the Admins be okay with that? Will they be able to clear out all the chests and it contents, or should we get rid of such chests ourselves? Thereby making it easier for the Admins to move build without having to dig through the blocks to get at the chests.

Just want to make sure I got it correct.
The one single chest part is easy to understand... I got that down no problem.
Where I am unsure is... Are we limited to just the 1 chest or are we allowed 1 chest plus what the character can carry in it's inventory to include the armor slots?

Inventory and armour slots will not carry over. You have to move that stuff as part of the one chest.
Any chests within your build will not keep their items as part of the transfer. If you leave chests in your build they will lose their items and may not face the correct direction on the other side.
We're not particularly fussed about leaving chests in builds though so if you miss some it's not an issue.

I thought the one chest was being moved with the build. What you said about any chest with in the build not keeping the items makes sence now that I recall you mentioning the builds being brought over after the migration.
How is the one chest being identified to be brought over and/or what should I do to make sure I have it in place to be moved?

It's one chest worth of space being transfered. It's not in the form of a chest.

Will claim blocks be moved over or does everyone start from 0? also, if not will claim blocks from the old map be taken away entriely or taken from the old map and added to the count of the new map.

My current coords are x: 2566 and z: 1436. I've marked the area I would prefer to have moved by the use of gold blocks. If you need me to tell you which chest to move, let me know, and I'll log in and point it out to you. The area is 40x39 in perimeter, and way less than 50 blocks tall. Just let me know if anything needs clearing up.

@deviawcut we're working out a way for you guys to be able to move over on your own, so you don't have to notify a staff member and wait for them. We should hopefully figure it out long before the 1.7 map is ready. Remember guys, we not only have to wait til 1.7 releases, but also most of our plugins. We can't open up the new map for the early people until we're sure it actually works correctly.

hi due to a major accident i was in, I just had surgery I'm hopping staff will help move my build for me and my chest. i hope to be starting rehabilitation soon for my left arm, which is completely immobile.
ill try to check in every few days to see what and when staff intend to start moves.
