Well you left click to destroy and right click to place blocks, I'll assume that wasn't your problem.
Are you playing classic or full release?
Have you tried deleting minecraft and re-installing it?

Left click to remove blocks , Right click to build ;D Otherwise go to you options --> controls --> change it to whatever you want, if then it doesn't work. Report it again ^^
