Can i transfer Minecraft from different OS systems?

i bought Minecraft on the mojang site on a Mac, and then tried to download on the same account with a Windows. even though i clicked Windows download link, it gave me Mac. and it DOESN'T WORK. can i transfer can i transfer without making another account?

Thats odd, it should have just given you the Windows one, and the Mac one should have just ran regardless.
