I just recently downloaded the client and have been having trouble getting it to run. I updated my java to the most recent version and I have the jar file in the correct location.
I have tried changing the autodetection of java to the location of my java, but that didnt work either.
Here is what I get when I try to run it

Client or browser?

Are you talking about the client not working or the game not running in browser? I have no problem running my game in browser.

lib/minecraft.jar

Your problem is
========================================
Warning: lib\minecraft.jar not found.
Did you read instructions / download it?
========================================
At the original download page for the client it states that you must download a file from Minecraft.net for legal reasons.

To Fix

1. Download the file here : http://minecraft.net/client/minecraft.jar

2. After you download put Minecraft.jar into your lib folder.

If this doesnt help read the download page
