Hello!

I have been recently trying to create a server, but with little success. When I create a server, it appears on the list for around a minute, and then disappears, although I can join it, my brother who is in another computer in the network cannot join it. After a few seconds it disappears, even though the network is still running.
I have had some trouble getting the router to forward packets, but I think it works now.
My properties file reads as follows:
#Minecraft server properties
#Fri Sep 10 22:58:09 ADT 2010
verify-names=true
admin-slot=true
port=25565
public=true
server-name=CLINT_SERVER
max-players=4
max-connections=3
motd=Welcome to my Minecraft Server\!
grow-trees=false
When my brother tries to join the game (using the URL link) it says the server is probably down.
What do you think the problem is and how do you suppose I fix it?
Thanks!

You need something else

You don't need the client to host your own server. For server software, google mczall or mclawl. Those are both very good server software packages that require a little patience to run but they have advanced cmds, ranks and other goodies!
