Wh en I try to join with minecraft.net website, it freezes with a black screen. When I try to join with your client, it freezes with black screen too. When I try to join using custom client, but with nickname lower-case, it displays "Connecting..." and changes to "The server is probably down!" after some seconds. What's wrong?

I'm trying to connect to World of Minecraft server, of course :)
By minecraft.net I mean the client embedded on minecraft.net/play.jsp ...

I already tried clearing java cache and latest java version is installed. It doesn't appear anywhere else, only when joining World of Minecraft.

Make sure java is not still running in task manager, Kill if it is.
If all else fails, try the ole reboot.

Tried it and same thing - crashes with black screen or with "Connecting" screen. I will try on Ubuntu now.

It happens to me sometimes. I just join another server that works, quit, then try again.
Which O.S. are you running on?

If that doesn't work, I just restart my browser.
And if THAT doesn't work, I don't know what will.

I was playing on the server a bit ago, and was abruptly disconnected. I've tried to reconnect many times over the last several hours and I always get the same error - Failed to connect-the server may be down. I can connect to every other server, my name is all lower case and I'm using the custom client.

The same thing happens when I try to connect & play thru minecraft.net in IE

I'm also on vista (64bit), but it was working fine for several hours. It just suddenly disconnected me while I was playing and now I can't reconnect to that particular server.

That also happens sometimes, I quit the web browser, then open again.
