Installing textures easily!

Since summer is almost here, and most of us finally have free time, i was wondering, why don't we hold some sort of competition for reskining Minecraft? Just like me, I'm guessing a lot of other people are not too fond of the default theme, so they have switched to other small texture reskins. But why don't we try to create the best texture out there?
Everyone who participates would have to choose any and as many of the followings to re texture: the terrain file containing the main textures (MAIN THING THAT WE'RE LOOKING TO RE TEXTURE), the sun and moon, the armor, GUI (including furnace, inventory, crafting, chest, etc.) ,the items, the character, the art, and the mobs.
All the blocks and textures would be kept similar to their respective, original texture (ie. the book block would remain a book block, the zombie remains a zombie etc.).
In the end, we will choose the best textures for every category, and put it together in a big re texture pack. One person can re texture the entire thing and if it's good enough, all of it might be voted as the top one.
I'll probably assign a deadline of about 1-2 months, or a few weeks before school starts in September.
Previously made texture packs can also be submitted as long as they are up to date and meet the requirements.

I don't know about that lol. His realistic pack is way over rated, and I can't say I really like it. I don't care who wins, as long as we make a good texture pack and improve the current graphics.

Summer in the Northern Hemisphere(above equatorial line), but Winter in the Southern Hemisphere(below equatorial line). There are most likely more Northerners than Southerners since there is more land in the North.

I'd like to get in on this, and I have to agree with Lilyo actually. I think SMP's pack is over-rated. I don't really like... well, any of SMP's textures in the realistic pack, nor do I like the way the baddies look. But tis a fools word to say that they are not quality. I do like his gui though, it's very sleek. Why are we signing up on a thread from last November though? I'm not gonna be the one to bump that one up from the dust :3
EDIT: Just noticed how recent the last post was, not sure what I was looking at before.

lol, alright. The more the better. I want to have at least 10 or some people that I know will finish by then.
