That funny, I have a Mac too...
Make sure the file your trying in install is a "dmg file and not a "exe" file. If it is a dmg file then try and re-downloading it and give it another go.
Also you may have posted this in the wrong part of the forum. Eg, Who is the person "like you suggested" that you mention. Where the link to the said file so others can try and see.
