Not trying to rant, i just want to bring up a something I hope is taken as constructive criticism!

I do not enjoy reading posts here with gifs that are worth the size of 5+ lines of text just because of the thing being in the signature line. Is there no appropriate way to control this?

I bring this up because it honestly does deter me coming to this site on a mobile platform or any other really. I love the freedom of personalizing things, i do get it.. but it does get pretty frustrating reading posts from the same people with the same EXTRA - LARGE animation of some silly (but personal, i get that(no offence intended)) graphic repeating itself OVER and OVER.

I'm not going to provide examples because i don't think that helps the situation but i do think that some sort of plan to accommodate these large graphics in an appropriate way would be more than helpful for the casual user to get engaged. Large signature graphics like this display a sort of superiority to the casual user and it can get a bit overwhelming to interpret if you are posting only a few words but still take over the majority of a page or post from the readers POV. Especially if the graphic has no relevance to the topic being discussed. It just ends up being incredibly repetitive.

I don't honestly understand the vast majority that these gifs reference anyway.. call me old/ unaware (I'm 30). I just wanted the throw the suggestion out there in the most constructive way I could!

Best,
Aftabang

Subjects are for the weak

A lot of people have gifs (that's the graphics/moving pictures) in their signatures, and some are quite excessively large. Myself, I'm not sure if there's any way to combat these large gifs, but I would appreciate some kind of rule or control over them, as you said, mainly because posts on here rarely get large enough to make the post bigger than the gif.
I very much understand where you're coming from, and totally agree, but it could be part of this site's old age and it's lack of updating (which I have discussed a bit with Nels), so I don't know what to tell you.

i will say this is how people are online. you tell them not to do something cause its annoying you, they will do it 10 times more and piss you off even more. the best thing to do is just not to add fuel to the fire and let it die out by itself. (looks at yen)

What kind of silly user would have a big gif in their signature?
