glitched block?

I was cutting down a tree a week ago and when i tried to hop up on the stump to get higher and something was stopping me from doing so. Then i started to take damage as if i was being punched. Does this happen often? Has anyone else had this issue?

I usually just reload the client, it goes away after or just respawns back to be broken again ; /

Like JNRM3iscool said it's a client issue, at time the client runs slower then the server or the other way around, there really is no fix other then just be a little bit more careful when cutting trees :P

Yes this happens when you are lagging.
Your client thinks the block is broken, but the server didn't break the block, which allows you to get stuck in it and take damage from it. It happens to me quite a lot since my internet is stupid.
most of the time you can fix this by holding your right mouse button down and moving it over the spot where the block is supposed to be.
