I really don't think there would be one on Realms. There are just not enough people. Do you know only 16 people entered the Xmas contest last year?

I don't see how it would be worth the staffs time to host a contest. I'm sure that you could form your own contest amongst the users though.

Might as well try and make World of Minecraft:Realms popular again. Not for the contest, just as AwsomeG2 pointed out, it is dying. World of Minecraft:Realms was once 20-100 people regularly. Now, its maybe 3-10 regularly.

This is based on pure speculation
With assumption that the Mod API will get released anytime soon before the end of the year, there may be a minor increase in Realms traffic following the re-opening of the Old SMP with the Surveyor+ requirement in place yet again, assuming people would still want to play on yet another SMP server.
However, with the PublicSMP and PvPSMP already running, this may affect the opening of the Old SMP in a negative manner, which would make the traffic in Realms stay as it is (ie. that place you don't want to go to).
So really, if you want new contests and things to be introduced to Realms, you'll just have to hope that the Mod API comes out soon, real soon and that people would want to come join the Old SMP.

They are saying that a competition on realms is unlikely, so maybe one on smp would be more likely to work as it would get a decent number of entrants.
The idea for that shall be considered.

Plus I use to own a server and I had the same promblem and once my staff helped me remake it There was so manny people that came to my server more then usually we may not have a contest but we should try to get realms more famouse? I would help like were fixeron could make the chat realm a bit more like christmas/halloween. And what we (the players) could do is get some of the word out,

A contest will bring in some more interest to World of Minecraft:Realms.
If you want larger amounts compeditors, temporarily shut down the SMP for the reason of "Not being able to run the contest and SMP at the same time", or some creative excuse like that.
Should there be a contest for halloween on Realms I would make an effort to join in, and do well. I mean;
If there's next to noone competing you are more likely to win.
Therefor, make it so that the more people competing the better the prizes become!
Though this may mean people will just use/create alternate accounts in order to bump up the prizes, but you could base the level of the prizes in the effort put in when you see the results, therefor if they have a blank realm, they don't count.
In terms of changing things, one thing you could easily change is the /chat realm, seeing as it is the most visited realm in all of World of Minecraft:Realms.
Otherwise, yes, change will bring people back.

Shut down SMP.... ARE YOU CRAZY? That is a silly idea and H4X would never agree to such a thing. Why would we try and make people go to Realms when we even have a faulty client at the moment.

The people on Realms run contests all the time but they don't have prizes like ours. That's why they want us to run one.

Seemingly everyone is having "Client Authentication" problems Its getting less poplar by the minute. Like what cartose said when i was a noob there was "millions" of people (well not millions but u know what i mean). and a contest would increase the popularity by a 20 or 10 people. For the SMP server maybe people would like to have the old SMP back because it had "titan power" just to name a few commands.

You can't just 'bring' the old SMP back. triddin has to recode it for the current version of SMP and there is no point at the moment because 1.4 comes out on the 24th and it will probably have countless bug fixes because Mojang don't properly test.
And even then you would have a hard time finding and convincing triddin.

SMP would be more suitable for contests as people want more options. Anyways, I remember having 100-200 (and more) users on realms at a time. Most people simply don't want to play minecraft classic anymore. Now seeing that this topic has been answered, it is now locked.
