Hey players,

Okay, so this might not very off topic here, and if I'm disobeying some rule or offending anyone then I really don't mean to and I apologize beforehand.
I'm a freelance writer and one of my clients has given me the task to write a few eBooks on Minecraft. Problem: I don't know anything about Minecraft. Now even though I can do the writing and researching, I need pictures to attach as well. So, I kinda need some angel to help me out.

I just need info and pictures from the game. But, I guess many of you might think: What's in it for me? Well, how about $50 and a big thank you from a very desperate writer. It's easy money for a player. How can you trust me? Well, just contact me and I'll give you proof of my reliability and we can discuss the details.

Again, I apologize if someone thinks this isn't proper. I just thought who better to ask help from than actual players.

Anyways, hope to recieve some postive responses.

Thanks.

Not quite it

Hey,

Thanks, but I need some specific information, about mods, maps, texture packs, seeds and as such. And I don't think I can become a pro in a day even if I start playing it. I was hoping to get some information from a player that would be willing to send pictures as well. Maybe that's a bit too much to ask but hoping some one is kind enough to do so.

A good site to look up is

A good site to look up is www.minebook.me. That site is basically Facebook for Minecraft. On the homepage are some rescently posted screenshots by actual players. I recommend that you look into the Mjnecraft Community as well by possibly watching youtubers like the Yogcast, CaptainSparklez, or SkyDoesMinecraft. Visiting Forum, like this one, also helps to attain knowledge about Minecraft Communities. Hopefully you get some good information.

I don't understand what kind of picture you're asking for. Minecraft is a sandbox game that allows people to let their imagination run wild in a few different ways. Are you wanting pictures of epic builds people made, or scenic shots of the landscape to show how the game looks? Both of these can easily be found in abundance on google images unless you're worried about using someones copyrighted image without permission.

Mods are basically just how people change the game. These range from complete overhauls that change the mechanics and how the game is played, to small tweaks that may just add or remove or change one or two things within the game. Mods are basically someone in the community who said "Wow, i think it would be cool if you could do THIS in minecraft" and then they or someone else went and made that possible. This is really only limited by your creativity, and the ability of the person making the mod. Something you should be sure to mention is the upcoming "Mod API". This is a long awaited feature that has been promised by Mojang for quite some time, but keeps getting pushed back. This will basically make it much easier for mods to be created for the game.

Resource packs (what were previously known as texture packs) change the look and feel of the game. While texture packs only changed the way things looked, resource packs now not only change the way things look, but can also be used to change the ingame sounds. Again, this is only limited by the creativity, and the ability of the maker. There are people who have changed the simple block building game into something that looks smooth and high def like a modern day high graphic game. There are people who made the whole game look dark and midevil. Basically anything you can think of has been made, or can be made.

Seeds are just the code that the map generation software looks at when generating the map. People in the community try to find seeds that create what they consider cool or interesting maps, since each code creates the same exact map every time. These codes can be words, numbers, random strings of both.

Maps are what you play on. A lot of people create "adventure maps" for other people to play on. when set to adventure mode, the game changes from a building enviorment to one that you explore and well.. adventure in.

The three gamemodes, creative, survival, and adventure, already allow people to experience minecraft in different ways. Creative allows the ability to fly, and to use an infinite number of every block, along with breaking blocks instantly with a click. Obviously, this mode is best for people who want to build things.
Survival gives you a health and food bar, and you no longer have the ability to fly or access to every block. You gain things by farming and mining to try to keep yourself alive and build up defences against monsters, called mobs.

Primarily, minecraft is about building. People have built absolutly incredible things in this game. However, anyone who gets tired of that can always change the game in a way to make it more fun or interesting for them.

If you have any more questions, post them here and I'll be happy to try to answer them. I also strongly recommend that you buy Minecraft for yourself, just to build and create in your free time. It really is an excellent game that allows people to express their creativity in new and creative ways.

not easy to describe minecraft

hello info_collector,

The summarization from Jupiter_Ginger is one of the best i've ever read, i will only add some personal things:

Minecraft isn't a game like others (i've heard, it's the second greatest community on youtube after the cats-stuff), which you just play from start to ending. That means, only some screenshots hardly won't do it.

You will surely find millions of screenshots and videos of the builds of many many users (and all of us can send u some without taking money for it i think), but to write an ebook about it, to understand what minecaft really is, u can't simply collect some screens.

Let us invite u to join this big community, and just try it out a bit. It's simply hard to explain the magic of one of the most successful games of the last decades.

And also the mindset of the creator Markus Persson is very important. He made a lot of money with the game, without annoying the gamers with copy protection or restrictive technics.

I'm not sure, if you will be able to write an ebook of  a game you never played... espacially if it's minecraft, because it's not just only a "game", it's more a virtual environment for fantasy and creativity.

But if  you really want it "short" (perhaps no time), we can do some Screens like "this is a building (pyramid, tower, fortress, whatever)", "this is a cow and a pig", "these are big mountains", "this is an evil mob (creeper)", "look, my new skin", "this is a plundered mineshaft", "this was griefed" and so on...

Then I shall ellaborate on that.

Hardcore mode is a fourth game mode that can only be activated when you start a new world. Once you begin playing on hardcore mode it is impossible to go between the other 3 modes anymore. What hardcore mode primarily consists of is that all of the monsters become harder to fight against, and you only have one life. Once this life is gone, your world will be deleted. If you wish to experience hardcore mode I will make the same suggestion my peers have made. You can either download the game, or watch one of the several hardcore mode series on youtube.

Hardcore mode is basically the same as survival mode. Except with no respawns. When i said gamemode i meant the gamemodes you can change between with /gm. Hardcore is more of a difficulty mode.
