I was wondering if anyone could answer a question for us.  I have been playing Minecraft for only about a week or so.  It has been awesome, and working just fine on our old laptop computer.

My mom just bought a new notebook computer and downloaded Minecraft into it for me too.  BUT, The starting screen/menu is acting weird (sort of flashing like), but I can log in ok, and then when I'm in game, all my things like cows and chickens and creepers are just black blocks.  I mean, they are shaped correctly, and they work right, but they are all solid black in color.

Everything else seems to work ok.

Can anyone tell me why this is doing that on the new notebook computer? (10 inch Acer Aspire One, Windows 7)

any other suggestions?

Thanks for the info and link. Checked them out, and some look really cool. But the ones that seem most trusted, with most uploads and comments, need HD updates, which I also don't know what is.

and, my Mom doesn't really want to upload anything that isn't from the game creators....

This is what I'm seeing.  Everything looks normal except the animals and creepers.  Are there any suggestions as to what might be going wrong?

..... edit to update...  screen shot won't upload here.  don't know if it's because I'm to new to post pics...

but, anyway.  All my items and blocks and trees and stuff look normal, it;s the animals that don't look right.

Understandably, allot of

Understandably, allot of parents are like that. But I can assure you that 99% of Minecraft content/mods/texturepacks etc.. is safe to download. The Minecraft community is a friendly one and I am yet to download a piece of content that is unsafe.

My favorite tpack is cubism, )16x16) no HD patch required.
Heres the link:

:(

Got Mom to agree tonight... Just tried to download it...  got a whole bunch of downloads (Wise converter something and File something), both said they were needed to download and would open cubism..... but no Cubism.

Mom is kinda mad.  Don't know what we just downloaded on the new notebook!

Start>All programs, look for

Start>All programs, look for the newly installed programs and click "uninstall".

The only program you need to have texturepacks in winrar. Even still, sometimes you don't need that.
This happens all the time. Don't worry it's common. It's also common for parents to be paranoid about these things. They we're brought up in a world without this sort of technology.
