Helping a lost person

Hey, recently in minecraft, I've gotten myself horribly lost, suicide isn't an option as I have to many valuable items that took weeks to gather, is there a way to fly in the game (offline/single player) or something so i can find my bearings?

He means in the alpha (The paid version). You don't have any items in classic.
You could try a mapviewer. It allows you to view a map file.

Try MineViewer, it seems to be like playing the game, except you're not.
