I'm sure I'm not the only one who tries to play minecraft on a netbook, and I'm also sure that I'm not the only one that thinks it normally runs somewhat slow. To get it to run faster, just do the following:

1)Generate small maps, its not going to hurt.
2)Use GMAbooster. You can get it at GMAbooster.com. Make sure you don't run it before the level is done generating. This actually makes a huge difference (1-20 fps constantly!), but it will get very hot.
3)Turn off sound, it does make a noticable difference.
4)Use a cooling pad. (Not neccessary, but these things get hot!)
Also, I've only tried this on /indev/, which seemed faster in the first place.

Great idea

Great idea, except now the only problem would be to try to play Minecraft Beta on a netbook, last time I tried it, I crashed the whole thing into shutting down. Also, the map size is going to kill it, since on my other computers, I have a map size of 48MB. So that's not going to work on a netbook. However, on Minecraft Classic, it runs beautifully at 15-40 fps. (I did this once at school, during a school dance.)
