I have a question regarding how server maps work with patches. I used to own a server but whenever a new patch came out that changed the world, i had to do a map reset or the map wouldn't work. What i was wondering how you can preserve what you create in your world and transfer it to the new world with ease. I know that world edit copy and paste work but that usually is inconvenient and causes mishaps. Also i know that really popular servers that update their map also preserve what they built so I'm wondering how you do that.

Thanks!

Right but..

I understand i can copy and paste in world edit... But back ups? Wouldn't that affect the biome changes in certain patches?

WE saves biome code also with the new 1.6.3 they are cleaning up those lose ends for updating servers.
