So i logged on yesterday, went up on my ship, and noticed that by the stern, (a.k.a: back) there were items scattered around, as if someone had died. i recovered what i could find, and this is what i recovered:
(the redstone is mine) (the bow's enchant is power 1)
I would like to return these to the proper owner.

Yeah, Lunick is right the community have been getting a lot of this type of stuff, the question is what plugin, or is it craftbukkit.

Erm, I'm just trying to find out who these belong to... I just built the entire ship earlier that day, so it couldn't have been from too long ago...

Items aren't supposed to despawn in chunks that aren't loaded.

Where is your ship? I might know who lives near you and i could possibly track down the owner.

Go for a big walk, come home, o it munch time. A look in my inventory and behold, all sort of stuff from god knows where.

Yeah basically your find your keep. Unless it belonged to your friend or somebody nearby that dropped at the time...

For some reason, I think items are not despawning when dropped if the chunk isn't loaded. I don't know if that is intended behaviour but I have been finding dropped items in random places.
