Mine Craft Gets Stuck Loading at Downloading Packages

I bought the alpha version of Mine Craft yesterday and other than frame rate issues everything was running fine. Unfortunately today when trying to load it from my download, it stops loading at Downloading Packages and eventually says it failed to load. I am new and haven't had much experience with the game, so I hope some one know a solution and will be kind enough to explain it so I can get back to digging my Bat cave.

Your Anti-Virus could be the Culprit.
Some anti-virus's have a built in fire, wall or download monitoring tool.
You will need to Allow minecraft, in your exceptions list on your anti-virus.
If you need help with that, please let me know what AV you are using, and I'll try to assist.
If you don't have an antivirus, then the problem is that minecraft is being blocked by your firewall, that comes with your computer. You will need to add it to the exception list as well. (note, normal computers are set to allow java, unless you have set your computer to "strict" firewall settings, you shouldnt have to do this).
That is all I can think of. Also, if you have windows 7 or Vista, Run Minecraft as Administrator. this is done by rightclicking then clicking "run as admin".
