Gaah... Okay guys, I'm gonna need some help. I'm trying to install some mods to minecraft (hoverboat, extra NPCs, etc), part of this is deleting the folder META-INF. I attempt to do this using WinRAR, only to get this result:

*attached image here*

And of course I've made a backup of the original minecraft.jar file. :P I'm using WinRAR 3.93.

Why the hell are you using Minecraft.jar with windows 7???? USE f***ING MINECRAFT.EXE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it has a dedicated mods bit!  Oh and if you get that error then why not just re-download minecraft.jar if you can't be assed to use the .exe version which is designed for windows!

Dont be so thick, and  dont you dare say that you are not using windows 7 AS I CAN SEE FROM HE FEAKING SCREENSHOT!

Wow

Wow man, you're a real ass. Minecraft.exe runs off of minecraft.jar. Calm down, seriously. You make yourself look like a fool and an idiot by freaking out about something that the OP's already doing. Next time, don't be the PC expert unless you actually know what the hell you're talking about.

Found the answer

Found my answer, just for anyone who wants to know. All I needed to do was unpack minecraft.jar to a folder and apply the modifications there. Then I packed it up to jar again with some custom settings.

Hey asswipe. Just stumbled across this having the same issue. and when you install mods and/or texture packs in windows you have to open the .jar file. so before you go flaming people like a little bitch. how bout you learn up.
