Multiplayer World missing

I started a private server last night for some friends and we used the world for several hours. Today, a new world was generated and the old world was gone. Why did this happen, and is there any way to load the old world from yesterday?

To my knowledge your game file gets saved somewhere in the minecraft folder.
It may possibly gotten deleted so check your rubbish bin.
Note: im just using my knowledge of the game sorry if im wrong
