Have you run antivirus scans ?
Can you see the drives in disk manager or if you type c:\ into the explorer address bar ?

Is the issue just contained to the computer window ?

The above steps.

Yes I can access them in Run. It's just the "My Computer" And other files showing up, like movies, folders, anything in the drives won't show their image .But you can run them perfectly.

As for the virus scan...Check.

Couple of thoughts

Do you have any more info? New program installs? Hardware changed recently made? Any error messages? Etcetera. If not (unless someone else had seen this before) I would run the following checks:

As above, start with antivirus and the checks listed by spuds. Next, google microst windows check. Microsoft makes an official scanner to check for errors in windows and correct them. Run that and see if that fixes your problem. Last thing I would try is to run disk check. Takes forever to run. It will tell you that it needs to be scheduled for later. Tell it ok and reboot, then go eat, clean the house, and go shopping...

Hmm...

There is no microst windows check.

The other step I'll do it tomorrow.

Any other ideas?

@Pointytastic

No I haven't made any changes to windows settings.

And how can I do a disk check if I can't access the "My Computer" ?

Web address

Here is the address for the program called fixit that is provided by microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/
run the option for windows repair. There are others you can try as well

also, if you have trouble with the command prompt method that spuds gave you, try typing chkdsk into run.

Maybe a system restore will fix the problem?

What do you guys think of this? System Restore saved my butt plenty of times.

Update: I have one question, do I lose files if I do a system restore? This would be my third time using it .

You can lose certain files

You can lose certain files but generally things you have installed (programs are worst affected)
Everything else is usually pretty dandy

Which files I can lose?

Like movies, music and other stuff downloaded in the two weeks period? Or the movies made with Fraps?

Update.

Virus scan...check. No viruses found.

Disk check...already done. Nothing changed, still the same error.

...I might have to reinstall wondows...but I DON'T WANT TO!

System restore is useless.

Last few things I can think of

Try fixit in the link I posted above. It's from Microsoft, not 3rd party and specifically designed to check their software. Not guaranteeing a fix, but I would rather try it first before reinstalling my OS.

The only other thing I can think of is to reboot in safe mode and see if you notice a change. If your icons open what they are supposed to from safe mode, it is most likely a virus or similar causing the problem that your AV is just missing during scans.

I even tried the fixit,

Want to guess what? Nothing changed. And I don't have time to reinstall my OS because i'm going to another location this sunday and staying until friday morning. So what else do you suggest?

Last Update:

Ok I think I'm going to install windows XP for now. Nothing else solved the problem but thanks for the help!

Can't just reinstall 7 ?
with xp if you have any more than 4 gigs of ram you won't be able to use it.

Microsoft are also dropping support for xp in a few months which will create a lot of security problems for computers still on it.
