My controls are sticking.

I have a major issue with my controls when playing Minecraft. I'm currently playing on 1.0.17a, or something like that.  About 50% of the time I'm walking/strafing in any direction, I will get stuck moving in that direction until I push the direction that I am stuck going in again. i.e. I'm walking forward (W), then I strafe to the left while still walking forward (W, A), I'll get stuck strafing left until I push A again.

It happens in any of the directions, WASD, and it also happens sometimes when I jump, which will leave me jumping up and down endlessly until I push jump again.
I had this same problem when I played Minecraft Classic awhile back, and I was turned off because of that problem, but I assumed it had to do with lag with the internet browser I was using which was Chrome at the time. I now have the game purchased and downloaded to my PC and the present is, obviously, still present.
I actually had problems like this in other games but it literally has only happened no more than 3 times over the course of my PC's lifespan, which is about a little more than 2 years maybe. Just to give you an idea of how often it happens in Minecraft compared to other games; Minecraft = 1/2 chance of happening every time I move using more than one movement key. Other games (WoW, TF2, CS:S, 1.6, Fallout 3, etc.) = 1/800,000~ chance of happening at all.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. 4GB RAM. ATI 4850 Sapphire 1GB. Intel Core 2 Quad (Q9550). Logitech G15 keyboard. Razer Copperhead Mouse.
And I run Minecraft in fullscreen.
Any ideas?
P.S. The format of this board is really weird. Rich-text format makes this a block of text even after I tried to add line breaks. Sorry.

Same

I've had this problem on several games throuought my PC's history, allthough I've only had it on minecraft quite a while back. I don't like being the person who just says "me too", but I too am looking for a solution to this problem, because it prevents me from fully enjoying numerous great games. I am running Windows Vista, too lazy to check the other specs, and I'd really like someone to solve this problem.

Hmm, maybe go to options and the quality to fast instead of fancy. Also increasing fog might help. Though this is just a guess.
My own comp gets this problem with numerous flash games and lowering the quality sometimes helps.

Negative.

Changed my graphics to Fast and increased Fog on all its levels. Nothing changed. Still having the problem.

I'm certain it's not an issue with my video card because of how easy this game can be run.
Any other suggestions? There are many people experiencing this problem. And I believe it's been around for quite some time, since I had this problem when I first tried Minecraft (Classic) on the Minecraft homepage (minecraft.net).

I just started having this

I just started having this problem today as well. I bought minecraft 3 days ago and have been playing it pretty hardcore. I finally have a good game going and a nice base too. I almost wanted to cry when my keys kept sticking this morning and I happened to be walking past the waterfall that runs off the edge of my cliffside base. The funny thing is, I surrounded it with gates yesterday to make sure I wasn't foolish enough to jump off. Today though, with the keys sticking, it was AWFUL. I had to stop playing completely for fear of falling out of my base again during the night. I nearly died and scrambling up the side of a mountain away from skeletons, creepers and zombies while your WASD keys are "sticking" is not fun AT ALL. The only change that I know of is I installed "doku's RPG texture pack" from here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=25676

Changing back to vanilla textures helped none at all. I still nearly ran out of my base.

Fixed

Sorry to double-post, but after some gruesome trial and error, I've
found the problem. I was curiously watching my Task Manager
(CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) while playing, since I also seemed to experience some
odd scrolling issues while moving my mouse down a large webpage after
middle-clicking in Firefox. Usually a smooth scroll - it seemed to be
"interrupted" every few seconds with a small lag spike. So I watched the
Task Manager to see what was up. I noticed a program called
"plugin-container.exe" was jumping from about 6-9k memory usage to about
15-20k every 2 seconds or so. I've never seen a program jump around so
crazily, so I researched and it seems to be some odd thing that Firefox
has added. Mind you, when I opened Firefox this morning, it took my to
the "Firefox has been updated" page. I've never noticed this issue
before. So I've deduced that it either has something to do with the
plugin that I installed (Close 'n Forget) OR it's the latest update as
of this morning for Firefox. I uninstalled the addon, since I really
don't need it anyways. I also closed Firefox and ran Google Chrome while
playing Minecraft (I have to have a browser open to keep me busy during
boring nights, or to refer to the Minepedia, I'm a noob.). I'll
downgrade firefox later and try again, but for now it absolutely seems
to be working fine. Not a hitch or a problem in the past hour or so,
whereas this morning, I was getting stuck every few seconds.

So
check your task manager for "plugin-container.exe", it could very easily
be interfering with your Minecraft as well! Once a browser that I loved
dearly... how you could try and kill me like this, Firefox? HOW COULD
YOU?!?!

Wrong

No plugin container, and I am running on internet explorer (and have allways been). So that is not the problem.

This is a problem I have too

I have this problem and it usually happens when I click rapidly while moving. I never had this problem until I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my pc as a dual boot.

I played for about 6 hours

I played for about 6 hours after closing Firefox and uninstalling the addon that triggered the process to repeatedly "jump", I had no more problems at all. Didn't stick again the entire time I was playing. This is what caused my controls to stick, perhaps it's something similar if this isn't the case for you.

There was also another linux user that had this problem. I think it may be something unrelated to what I experienced, but whatever it is on linux - it causes the same problem :(

I hope you guys have as much luck figuring it out as I did. I figured I wouldn't be playing again for a while... (which honestly, would've been a GOOD thing. I can't get anything done with this game installed!)

Thanks for the

Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help me much, as I haven't used Firefox in ages, and have since switched to Chrome.
Just to make sure though, I checked my task manager, and failed to find anything named "plug-container". I imagine I would have if I were using Firefox.
I heard there was an update to Minecraft, so I don't know if the problem is fixed or not with this update. I doubt it though, since I've been having this problem since Classic.

I have found something CLOSE to a fix

Guys! This doesn't fix it all, it still happens, but I found a fix for people using Camstudio. Head over to taskmanager with Camstudio open, and find Recorder.exe. Right click it, and set it's Priority to High, and Affinity to all CPU's. This will make the problem happen less. If anyone else can use this info. to fix it completely, please tell me!
