Make sure all your drivers are up to date. Minecraft likes to remind me about my video drivers by doing this to me ingame.

Are you able to post all the information you can about your PC?
Do you get any error message when your minecraft crashes?

Just because it's "brand new" doesn't mean everything is up to date, it doesn't hurt to check.

Were not after the specs, we're looking for what hardware is actually in there and the minecraft error message.
Do you have a link to the PC?
(Like the place you bought it from)

And what does minecraft say when it crashes?

One of the hits I found suggested lowering the render distance.

Do you get the same error on 1.8 servers?
If so please post the logs from that too. =]
