Offline Custom Map Testing Client?

The reason for wanting this, is I would like to test and/or save a Custom map, (server_level.dat), without the need to create a server, or even be online.

Now, the World of Minecraft Custom Client works great for online servers, but when you use it offline, it just generates a map, and won't let you save or load any maps in the minecraft folder.
Another reason why I personally would like it, is to be able to test maps on my better computer, which doesn't have internet on it, (Yet). So far, I've been testing all of my maps on a computer with 512MB of RAM, which, as you can assume, isn't very good for even medium sized maps.

I'm not asking for anyone to make this, but it seems like it would be useful, and doesn't seem like it would require much effort. I myself have never looked into coding with Java, so I'm useless at it.

Thanks again.

Hi tar!

What exactly are you asking for?

Instructions on how to make a server?

No, I know how to make a

No, I know how to make a server and all that, but what my ordeal is, is that I have internet on this computer, (Slow, as I told you over IRC), and another, which isn't quite so slow, but has no internet connection whatsoever.

mail, on the IRC channel, told me how to set it up with only the server software, but I didn't quite understand. He tried to explain to me something about making the server connect to 127.0.0.1, and make it non-public, and make verify names false, so the software has no need to connect to the minecraft website.

What I was wondering in the post, was if there was a client that allows you to test maps as if you were on a server. Every client I have tried 'Goes Single Player' once I try to play offline, and it doesn't allow entering the '127.0.0.1' that the people on IRC were referring to.

So, in short, either a client that allows the user to load custom maps, (Such as server_level.dat, instead of the generated map it goes to), or step by step instructions on how to set up the default server software to use that port address, and make no connections to the internet.

ahh

Set your server up as port 25565, verify names=false

Then from the same machine, click or copy this into the World of Minecraft Client:

http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=127.0.0.1&port=25565

That's not what Tarkata14

That's not what Tarkata14 means. The World of Minecraft client never prompts for a server if the connection to the server list cannot be established. I have the same problem, and I would like to be able to test out my server software without being connected to the internet.

Break down controll system

i have tried to force him to view the server list etc
and it allmost worked but the offline play.psj doesn't work (yet)
i will keep trying but for today i will quit

btw. i did this by putting the World of Minecraft.jar to 127.0.0.1/servers.jsp instead of minecraft.net/servers.jsp and some other stuff

ps.
i think i will focus my self on the ingame menu to mod it that you can save and open offline (it is now just blocked) so if you now which .class file the menu is plz say it then (pm me)
