This message pops up every time I start the game with the hacked client (the custom client, of course), and I get a white screen in the minecraft window. Don't worry, I downloaded all the files correctly and put them in their correct places, I've done this before.

The actual message box looks like this:
_________________________________________________________________________
|Failed to start Minecraft                                                                                         [X]
|_________________________________________________________________________
|(insert big red "X" symbol here) org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated
|
|                                                  [     OK     ]
|_________________________________________________________________________

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do. And I apologize in advance if this problem has already been solved, I looked for a solution and saw nothing related.

Have you recently updates any

Have you recently updates any drivers??
The error comes from the Light Weight Java Game Library (The main part of the game)
These tests , test the part that throws the error.

http://lwjgl.org/demos.php

The one I recommend you run first is the 3 at the bottom.
If it still throws an error it not mine craft but your system and software.
Update Java and your display drivers. The Library is know to throw errors with custom resolutions {800x480 as on my netbook} and ATI drivers...
Hope it Helps.

Well...

Recently, my computer got wiped to some degree, that might have something to do with it.

And as for those demo things, I'm not really sure what response I'm supposed to get when they work, could you elaborate a little as to what I'm supposed to do with them?

lets take

lets take the org.lwjgl display test.

Download it
Run the installer
Run the demo
It suppose to make a black screen then white and then a logo.
If it bombs out copy the error report and paste it here, it gives a better description of where the error is. (current one is only what not when and where)
My Netbook gives it like this.
<!-- JNLP File for LWJGL Demos -->
<jnlp

  codebase="http://lwjgl.org/jnlp/"

Excuse me, but...

Just... Huh? For starters, what is "it"? "it" doesn't give me much to work with here. Second, what is "bombing out" supposed to mean?

You're going to have to be a bit more specific, I'm not familiar with all this back water text gibberish. I'm the kind of guy that builds stuff, not the guy that codes and programs things.

Dude seriously

"Pixel Format not accelerated"

This is caused by not having an updated video driver.

As for me,I have 11 drivers out of date.
You should get your drivers updated, before ya end up like me,not being
able to play much games ;)

thing is this--the launcher and World of Minecraft client worked fined until the most recent update a few days ago. now I get graphics errors on both....
this could be from the update? I can now only use the minecraft.net website...

VGA Outdates

The error for your problem is that your video card is a "VGA".

That means Video Graphics Array, and was outdated ehhh about 2005.
Go to any computer repair place, and get your VGA out and get in a new one from either NVIDIA or Microsoft. Good luck :)

Easy Fix!

All this error message means is that your hardware acceleration is turned off... it has nothing to do with updating drivers or java or anything like that.

In XP you turn on hardware acceleration by right clicking on the desktop>properties>settings>advanced>troubleshoot>move slider to "full"

if you have a different OS then look up how to enable hardware acceleration

I had updated my drivers, have updated java,
so im pretty sure the hardware acceleration is the problem.the only thing is on windows 7 you are not able to adjust these settings, as it is greyed out.
a picture of my problem is here(although not my picture)
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/694/troubleshootbutton.png/
apparentlly "Hardware acceleration is automatically adjusted by your ATI drivers depending on the applications you are using.

It cannot be adjusted manually."
now thats all jibberish to me but if someone could please help me id abreeciate it

CCC

If you have an ATI driver then you probably have Catalyst Control Center installed.  Right click on the desktop and then click CCC and then look around in CCC for hardware acceleration settings.

thanks,
i tried but when i right clicked there was nothing of catalyst control center, and i tried in the search bar
maybe this means i do not have an "ati driver" whatever that is
any advice from here? downloading this driver or anything else?
i have only tried at minecraft.net and not with World of Minecraft because i dont want to download and find that it still doesnt work
^idk if that would make a difference, but once again thanks for the time and for doing your best

Some Ideas

I am pretty sure because of the error message you said you got that you have an ATI card and the appropriate drivers.  You could try updating your drivers from the ATI website or try this (got the idea from another site): " ... download Windows Virtual PC (free from Microsoft) and run the [World of Minecraft Client] through the Virtual PC in XP Mode http://www.microsoft...c/download.aspx"

*some ideas*

so i dwnload virtual pc,and there would be some sort of option that i could turn it in to xp i was running practically, because it would be *xp* than i would be aloud to change the hardware acceleration and it could be fixed? is that right?

Not always

Not always is that answer going to work. On Ubuntu and Windows and any OS if your pixel isn't accelerated, It could be either the Outdated VGA driver or the Acceleration. When you get a laptop, acceleration options are at full. In his case, you can tell its no acceleration problem, an OutDated card is the problem. Go to any computer store or ebay, even amazon, and get either a NVIDIA video card chip, or an HP. If your computer is HP intel core dual processor, google that chip and buy the more updated one.
If you buy the Intel pentium 4 chip, it will work. Good luk
