I am not great at the automated stations, but I would like to start seeing a rail network to the outskirts.  I am about 800x200 away from the spawn, and I want to build one to my base.  I have a section by spawn i need to transport villagers to.  I am willing to contribute alot of iron, if we can work out a path?  I don't know where to lay tracks so that it isn't on the road, and doesn't get blocked by claims.  Do I need to get each claim owners permission to go through?  Or is there a path?  Fine with the track being public, as long as we watch the griefing.  I don't want to have to repair it constantly.

I'm down with a rail system.

I'm down with a rail system. I was actually about to start construction on a rainbow-road to spawn. I'm located at ~X-3999 though, so it's gonna take time, lol. A rail would speed that process up.

Pathway

You definitely need permission to go through claims, but a rail is a great idea. Would make transit between areas that dont have warps a lot faster.

Sort of reminds me of nolztech from the old map.

Wait don't claims end at x blocks high??? So to avoid claims can't you build way in the sky??? Or if they end at x blocks below the claim you can build it underground. Sorry if you can't understand that I can fix it lol.

Claims

Claims do end below the claimed block after a ways, but that doesn't mean the owner above doesn't have plans for a lower level/basement. Even if you can physically build the rail, common curtesy is to ask.  Also, server rules say that if you are going to build near someone's claim, you need permission. If you need permission to be next to it, you certainly need permission to go under it.

Yeah, I wouldn't want you to build over/under a claim without permission. However, I would assume most people would be find with you building through or near or under their build if you ask them.

Just some thoughts on how to

Just some thoughts on how to deal with the claim issue. A windy rail that goes through unoccupied areas may help promote expansion since it will give people easy access to undeveloped areas. It would also allow new players to see more of the builds as they can use it to tour the area.  Another idea is to go through the nether. This will drastically shorten the railway and there are far fewer builds there, and those are mostly grinders.
