So, I have no real experience with modding anything at all in any way, but I realized I could extract the whole Minecraft.jar and mess with the blocks and whatnot. But I couldn't figure out how to recompress it or whatever into minecraft.jar again. Tips?

Cookie .jar

Did you try saving it as .jar manually?

Well, it's a lot of files,

Well, it's a lot of files, not a single file. Do you mean saving the whole folder as .jar?

No

Yes I do.
Also, you can just delete them and re-download them to save time.

my solution

i already answered zom in cal's server, this is just for anyone else who needs info.

DO NOT EXPAND THE .JAR FILE

instead use winrar, locate the .jar file in your lib folder. use the "view" button to get into the .jar w/o messing it up. then "extract" the file u wish to edit. edit the, go bak into the .jar and "add" the file back in, it should overwrite the old one w/ yours. don't forget if u rename it u need to rename it back so it overwrites successfully.

P.S. any word surrounded by a " " is a button on winrar, use them.
