I cannot figure out what is wrong.

I've tried Using a lever to turn off the torch, tried using a presure plate, even a tripwire. Nothing works.

The last thing I tried was [RST] [.....Redstone....] [RST], neither of them turned off.

I am using Minecraft 1.3.1 with no mods.

If your talking about turning off the redstone torch on the left you have to connect the redstone to the block below to turn it off, if that doesn't help I could come on smp to help

The torch on the right (3 in total when complete) are supposed to be on, keeping the pistons extended and covering a hole.

When trippin' the wire, the pistons goes down (turning off the torches) the unsuspecting victim is hit by a flurry of arrows (that I got working)

You might of figured it out already, but the block the torch is on has to be powered. :3

Pressure plate on top of the block with an RS torch on the side will unpower the torch, for example. Redstone wire leading to the block the RS torch is on will disable it.
