I've been playing around with various texture packs, and I understand that everything is editable, yet I have seen no example of a sky.
If I were to make one of my own, how would I go about doing this?

I use Photoshop, customized

I use Photoshop, customized texture packs and a womclient. Just place pictures in the skin folder.

I've been able to do this with everything other than the sky.

The sky doesn't use a

The sky doesn't use a texture. It's hard-coded into the game's java files directly. The best thing you can do is figure out where the coding is and change the hex values for the colours used for the sky, but people would have to replace entire game files instead of just swapping texture packs if they wanted to use your custom sky (essentially, we'd have to revert back to doing texture packs like we did before the Halloween update).

Put simply, it's one thing we'll have to get used to not being able to change, unless we convince Notch to make it editable, and he finds a practical way to do that.

I don't think you can change

I don't think you can change the sky's color to put in a texture pack, but I seem to remember minecraft map making programs letting you change the color of the sky you edit.

I don't know how you can get that into into a texture pack, though.

I understand

Thanks for answering. I don't feeling like mucking about with the game too much just to have some different colors. Instead I decided to just edit the clouds.
