hi,

i want to know if someone have similar problems, or even a solution...

The last day i played on smp-server, after a short time the fps goes down to under 10. Sometimes i have to wait a bit, then it goes up to nearly 50 again. But sometimes it freezes completely, and all chunks are suddenly gone! Means, the world becomes completely transparent, i can only see mobs and flames of torches, all other things are gone.

First i thought this could be a server-problem, but when i then leave the game, my client is very slow also, and i have to restart minecraft, so it seems not to depend to the server.

I changed nothing but the Java upgrade to 7. After that problems i rolled back to Java 6u35, but that changed nothing with the problem.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be? Or any others have this problem, too?

Thanks for helping

Levian

Just a suggestion, try

Just a suggestion, try checking your Internet connection (for your problem the internet might not have to do with anything) If your Internet is terrible, try resetting your router.

it's not the connection, i

it's not the connection, i have mostly 14000kbits.

And it seems to be the client, because when i leave the server, the client is also very slow.

Here what it looks like when it happens:

ok, wanted to show a sreenshot, but it's all black. Perhaps it's my graphic card :( will test this.

Someone knows something about special grafic problems with some cards or things like that? (but i didn't changed anything, card worked fine before)

Looks like the game's rendering engine is dying. Try reinstalling the game

problem is coming up again

Sry niels for never answering u!

I'm coming up with this month old thread again, because the problem is coming back.

Last time, the problem solved curiously . I've tried a lot, including reinstallation and playin around with the grafic parameters, but nothing helped. Then, suddenly, problem was gone and i don't know why.

Now, since 3 or 4 days, i have the same problem worse then before. After logging in, the fps decreases and after 2 minutes the client freezes (and the render engine obviously dying). Then i have to restart the client. No fun playing this way :(

The curious thing is: i don''t have this problem on CMP, in sinlgeplayer or on other multiplayer-servers. So, for me it looks like a SMP-server-problem :(

what i've tried:

- reinstalling
- switching all parameters to lowest grafic
- cleaned up my HD
- Virus Check
- graficcard update
- newest Java-Version, newest MC-Version
- with and without Magicloader, with and without mods
- with OptiFine, without it

watching the Java-process via Task-manager, the dying process is always starting, when Java starts to use more then 400k of my RAM.

I tested it with the computer in my office, there the Java-process takes nrly 900k(!) Perhpas this is a hint . Perhaps the smp needs to much memory to be displayed at the moment? idk :(

Does somebody have this problem, too?

You know it could be your

You know it could be your computer, maybe your computer can't keep up some people don't have good enough pc's to play. It could also be your ping to the server.

Have you made sure not to keep any programs running? Perhaps the computer is doing too muh at once to play the game efficiently.

What are your system specifications?

And what version of Java: 32x or 64x?

Thanks

hey!

thanks for your answers!

@fishtownsmichael:

Sure, my computer is neither the youngest nor the best (see specifications below), but i think it's much better then the most laptops, and a lot of people playing MC with laptop. And remember: Last week all was fine and i was able to play normal without any problems. I didn't changed anything at my computer.

@liquid_lightning:

I closed all other programs, even the firefox, which was the 2nd biggest process running. It changed nothing. Ping to smp.womjr.com is 123ms (exactly the same then to cmp.womjr.com)

@niels:

it's a Pentium4 with 3.00GHz and 1.5 GB RAM with Win XP pro service pack 3 (all updats applied)
Graphic card: ATI 9800 xt
As i said to fishtownsmichael: it's not really the best system, but a week ago it was simply good enough to play with. And by the way: i'm still playing games with it like Portal, Half Life 2, Black Mesa, Anno, Command&Conquer and others without problems.

@Yenwood:

The system is stil 32bit, so i think Java is 32bit also (can't find this specification anywhere). Version 7 update 25 is installed.

Yesterday, i played 3 hrs on another server without problems, also on our CMP. Only in SMP it's glitching away after 2 minutes... :(

I had the same problem, then I upgraded to 64x Java since my RAM let me, but now I'm having the same issue again, haha.

So, Yenwood, do i understand

So, Yenwood, do i understand it right that you have the same problem?

But then maybe it's really a server-problem, isn't it?

Thank you!

This one seems to be solved!

As MrSnowGlobe told me, he did a lot of work to optimize the performance (what is surely good for the whole server and our community). And at the moment it looks like my problem is nearly gone, only sometimes little fps-problems, which can be simple caused by normal lagg. But no more crashes of the render-engine.

So, i want to thank You Snow for your sacrificing work!
