I'm pretty sure that the client is actually fixed now, if you have the 2.0.6 version, it should be working fine
try visiting the World of Minecraft:Realms server, each member gets their own world, or realm, where they can decide who can build.
You rank up simply by building, each block you place/destroy is recorded and you are awarded reputation point(rep for short) when you reach certain amounts of rep, you will be able to upgrade to the next rank
As you rank up on the server, you will be awarded with more realms and the ability to have bigger realms
