I have a mac and i know that i would like a texture pack. I took the minecraft.jar and changed it to minecraft.zip Then i clicked on it and it immediately downloaded a file named minecraft. It has all the original skins and mob's and textures. I replaced those original files with the ones I want (then i heard im supposed to put this back into the zip, which isnt possible)(i also heard that i change the .zip back to the .jar) I tried both of those things and they didn't work, still the normal blocks. Im stuck help please!

hope it helps becuase it took FOREVER to google this

To compress or zip or archive files or folders in Mac OS X:

  1. Control-click or right-click the file (or multiple files selected) or folder (or multiple folders selected) that want to be compressed or zipped.
  2. On the pop-up contextual menu, choose and click on Create Archive of “file name”.
  3. A zip format compressed archive of the selected files or folders will be created with the following icon. Original files or folders will be left intact without changes.

zip the files up and name it minecraft.jar

and i may be wrong, but i know it works for me, i hope i helped at all
