So I want to play minecraft, never played it before. Is there a server browser program somewhere? I've found a couple on google but usually with games that have 3rd party server browsers only one is really used. Which one should I use?
Also, I want to play on a newb server with people that are nice in explaining the game, any recommendations?
Finally I've heard there are a lot of mods for this game. Do they auto download from a server or do I have to manually download them. Thanks in advance.

Well, first off, you have to buy Minecraft. When you pen minecraft and login, there is a button that says
Multiplayer. When you click that, you can enter an IP address at the Direct Connect button.
You can find an IP address on websites like this. Click Play! For the World of Minecraft SMP IP.
Mods require Winrar. You have to go into the minecraft,jar itself and put the mod in there.
I recommend looking at a video on YouTube for that.

Not all mods are allowed on all servers. If your not sure then just ask the staff. On this server we are allow to use Modioader and Rei's Minimap and OptiFine. Genially we like to keep it clean so as to not disturb other players.
