I'm running Minecraft on Vista, since it's the best computer I have. The other's are horrible.
I don't think Minecraft works well on Windows Vista. I'm sure about 32bit. Not sure about 64.

I can't make a server. My Java is up to date. I read the readme, but it didn't help.

The client doesn't work. I have minecraft.jar but it still doesn't work.

I'm getting a lot of those black screen bugs. I know what to do about them, they're not a problem, but the rest is a problem.
EDIT: I never get these anymore.

The sound doesn't work. It worked before, but now, it doesn't. Nothing's muted, I checked. I even tried full sound.

Also, sometimes it loses connection with the server while building. It's annoying, but not a problem though.
EDIT: This is because the server I'm in sometimes goes down, and this s starting to get very rare.

I don't know what to do about it. Little help?

WTF???

I tried to type it out (since Vista doesn't let me copy from Command Prompt) and it removed some stuff.

Yes.

I'm getting everything everyone else is before LavaCount. It loads a single player map. After LavaCount, it says Key: #, which I assume is normal. Also, I can't fly or anything. Is that a separate plug-in?

I have nothing to say in this box.

I have something to say in this box though.
The "Key: #" appears when you press a key, so yes, it's normal.
And, no, I don't think it's a seperate plug-in.

Press "Z" to toggle fly.
Hold "X" to "noclip."
Hold "Ctrl" for Super-Speed.
Hold "Shift" for Super-Super-Speed.

OMG

On Google, if you search "worldofminecraft" exactly the way I did, this thread is the second result. The first is (obviously) the main page.

EDIT: Never mind, it's now the "Forums" page.

Do you guys run a firewall?

Do you guys run a firewall? It looks like java can't connect to the internet.

The "java.io.FileNotFoundExcepption: http://www.minecraft.net/resources/" error is very strange.

Have you tried reinstalling the latest version of java, possibly turning off windows firewall, or allowing java access to the internet?
