ive been getting this login error for the past month that says:
unable to authenticate
your username/password may be incorrect or there are no servers to vaildate your login.
ive entered my password and username 100 times and still the same message. i can login through the minecraft website no problem and ive tryed multible accounts. ive recently had java problems and wondering if it has anything to do with that. ive been trouble shooting for a long time now.. ive even tryed to restore.. but i get the same result. if anyone has any ideas to fix this i would love to here.

more news... i completly removed java from my computer and reinstalled it and now everything is workin great... exept World of Minecraft. im back to square 1

i created a new minecraft account and still.... ive tryed every possible solution but its still not resolved. i hope someone comments cuz i feel like im talking to myself :P once again... if u have any ideas i would be glad to hear. oh and btw MINECRAFT IS NOT DOWN!

Well, if you've got it working on minecraft.net, the only think I can think to try is to try logging in with the valid box unchecked (if you havent already), that will pull the list right off of minecraft.net and you should be able to get on that way. Hope it helps, beyond that, I'm not really sure what you could do.

Long time no see krew :P Hope you can get it fixed soon, the only other option I can think of is to go here http://www.worldofminecraft.com/debug I've never used that, so I cant tell you whether or not it will work, but I suppose it's worth a try.

World of Minecraft direct wont open.. i get the internet cant display page message... and to make things worse i got demoted for not being on a server for awhile cuz of this... what next! well.. ill try ur sugestion but im not good with debuggin so i cant c that turnin out well.. i might crash my computer Dx. but anyways... thanks for the support :D

Wish I could have helped more, but after that I really cant think of what else you could do, (for the debug you download 2.0.6 btw, even though I think it says 2.0.5), hope it works for you krew.
I suppose you could try changing your password on minecraft.net if that doesnt work, that might help, but if not, I'm really not sure what it could be.
After that perhaps you could try your other usernames to try to get in. lol
I'm stumped here, but I'll keep trying to help if I can think of anything else.

triddin said something about minecraft not liking 64 bit version of java and i have that. ill try the 32 bit but then im back once again fussing with java and that didnt turn out good last time.

I have the 32 bit, so it could be the 64 that's causing your problem, but I wouldnt go through all of that again until you try everything else. lol

im looking for a 32 bit java download and theres 1 that says java 32 bit offline and the other 1 says java 32 bit online.... im assuming the online 1 but im just making sure...

Make sure its from this page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre-6u30-download-1377142.html because I dont think World of Minecraft likes jre7 either, and I believe what you want is actually the offline version (if you're on windows the x86 offline) although I'm not positive on this.

lol, sorry bout that krew :( hope you get it fixed soon, its strange that Nothing is working and that noone else seems to be having this problem atm, usually it comes in bunches when there is some error in the client, but that seemed like it got fixed a couple of weeks ago. Good luck

i resently got a new modem with built in wifi so ive switched everything arround. no ones joining my server cuz its port forwarded on my old router. maybe World of Minecraft is using my old router to. ill have to look into that but meanwhile im going to watch tv :D

i dont think its a bug. i think it has to do with my computer. maybe my internet. im going to look into my modem today and see what ill find. in the failed to authenticate error it doesnt just say user and pass maybe wrong it also says something about servers vaidating my login. mybe their trying to vaidate it but something on my computer is preventing it. once again, ill look into it today and report back latter.

i just pressed the "resume" button and i joined my server and im playing online! but... i still cant login. the only server i can join is my own. ive tryed World of Minecraft direct but i cant even open the webpage without getting the internet failed to connect error. nothings connecting!!! help!!!

If you can only join your own server then that sounds like it could be an internet connection issue. Are you able to play on other servers on minecraft.net?

Its not specifically about minecraft, but this person seems to have had a similar problem as you do and it seems like he got it fixed. Hope it works for you.
Edit: you may want to try unplugging and replugging your modem before you follow the instructions in the link, because that could work too. I suggested that to Someone else that had that problem and it worked for them, but that was a while back.

nope. argh if it is my internet its most likely not going to fix by itself. the only way for me to fix it is for me to know what the problem is... ive tryed diagnosing the problem but the computer says everything is running smoothly. i just dont know.

ok well... now i know its not minecraft... nothing that requires internet is working except my internet browser. steam says i dont have a internet connection (i do), minecraft says i dont have internet, windows live mail says i dont have internet, and much much more. i cant restore anything more than a day.... i dont think theres a button to restore all settings to default for networks.... (if u no of any i would be glad to here :D)
ive called out my internet provider (shaw) and they couldnt find anything to do with my router/modem setup so.... ive narrowed it down to the computer settings. i have yet to get a computer tech out to look at that stuff but im trying to avoid it ($50). ive almost wrote a book on all my problems in this thread and still have yet to find a solution. well at least ive made some progress and narrowed it down to a few things :)

i found the problem. yay! but no solution. nay! the problem is is im not getting internet acsess through ipv6. ive diagnosed the problem and it says nothings wrong. also i cant get 32 bit version of ie9 but i can get the 64 bit version. all the programs use the 32 bit version becasue its the default browser. ive read that u cant make the 64 bit version the default so im guessing it has to do with the ipv6 which i think it is 32. my ipv4 is working good so im guessing its 64 bit. (i might be wrong cuz im guessing :P) ive been reading other fourms online and seen that others are having the same problem. ive tryed every solution but none worked. ive ran mse (microsoft security essentials) on full scan (up to date) and no viruses were found so im guessing viruses have nothing to do with this.
any solutions would be appreciated.

hey ive been having the same probelm as you for like 3 months now lol. i have a windows 7 computer it seems to me everyone with this probblem has a wondows 7 computer ?!? lol but yeah if u found a solution can u plese tell me becuse this is highly anoyoing and its starting to piss me off....but i do have one solution not really a soultion but somthing i have noticed.... when i sighn in wth my free account it does not work, when i use my frinds acount and he is a member it workss so im guessing only member can login without that authenification message? if thats not the problem then it obviously has to be my computer:/ and this is a new computer i just bought too:(

but i had like 2 days of World of Minecraft and than it failled.
So i have never used World of Minecraft a lot. stil i want World of Minecraft back because it works great and i get freak out of fly in the normal way.
Other problem that i did get when i downloaded World of Minecraft.
The problems i did get when i downloaded World of Minecraft was that i could not login anymore in Minecraft if i used Opera (internet), i could log in whit google chrome fire fox and explore. That problem i fixed by redownloading JAVA.
A other problem what i have since i downloaded World of Minecraft. If i log in on minecraft (not whit World of Minecraft) on the internet. I have the problem that if i place/break a block that i get the Menu in front of me. Ore in other words i cant use the normal way either so i cant play minecraft at all.

This topic is from January guys, it got bumped for some reason (I think topics with the same name bump old topics, that's how it used to be, but I've been gone for a while, so I'm not sure if that's still going on), there was a completely different issue causing krew's(branformer's) problems back then.
As for the authentication issue this time, you can follow the steps in this thread :
to get a direct connect url for any server and log in without going through the sign in authentication process. (There are other ways, and this one is a bit of a pain, but it works).

i just happened to catch a glimps of this in the active topics area and saw the name looked familar... anyways, this was a long time ago and i fixed it. it was my internet and i got my isp to reset it and everything works great now. u guys are probably having the login problem because of the change in url for minecraft.net. if you havent noticed, everyone is having that problem. there is a 3rd party patch that was relased from someone which can be found here: http://www.worldofminecraft.com/content/3rd-party-World of Minecraft-fix-unofficial
for curtcurt, if you have been having this problem for 3 months, its most likely not the client. are u having problems with other software that require a internet connection? if so, contact your isp.

No im not having any other problems with other sofwares that uses the internet. my internet is fine i use othe clients like tekkit and it works perfectley fine and fast. I quit World of Minecraft it was fun while it lasted thers just no solution for me!! its like imposible. i say its impossible becuse i restored my whole computer!!! and it still didnt work, now thats realy strange.so now im thinking its my account but how could it be my account when i use it for mincraft.net and the Tekkit cilient. and then again it cant be my account because ive tryed others and the only ones that work is the purchased accounts. i would use the puchased account and start playing on World of Minecraft again but i cant because i am ranked in a lot of servers and it took months for that to happen sooo... yeah ill leave World of Minecraft aside for now until my sister gets her new laptop so i could try it on a differnt comuputer to see if its just my computer...other than that World of Minecraft is not an option for me at this point :/

heres the latest news... i have fixed my java for my browser and now when i click on my World of Minecraft client icon it does nothing.. not even open the login screen. ive tryed reinstalling the World of Minecraft client but i get the same result. i dont know if i have made a mistake when editing the path and classpath in system varibles. im using a 64 bit system and this is what i entered for both of them:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin
i have windows 7 and have the latest java version. if u have any suggestions or want to know more info about this problem ill be glad to hear. im a computer wizz and i usually fix these problems easily but im stumped on this. hate to say this.. but HELP!
