With the 1.9Pre release out from Mojang, when will World of Minecraft be moving to the new version?
What I have heard is that there will be no build moves this time around. Can you confirm that? I do not want to continue working my current build if its going to happen soon.
Is there still going to be item chest from map to map?
What if anything new will be part of the new map? Mods or plugins etc...?
Will we be able to get a copy of the world map so we can copy our builds to other servers or our own servers?

Thanks for answering none of my questions...I guess I will have to wait to be uploaded to the cloud to get any answers lol. If we are all part of the cloud will we still have voices? If so you will still have to listen to them unless it is just as if you already know everything the instant someone else thinks it...interesting. I look forward to a serious reply

I think Yenwood was hoping a funny answer was better than the boring answer we can give you now.
The honest answer is we're still making final decisions. We want to make this map exciting, fun and run as smoothly as possible. I know i'm personally hoping we decide asap so i can start building spawn roads :D
As far as i know however, there are no build moves. Too much abuse in the past and there's something nice about a genuinely clean slate for all users.
Hopefully we can get you more information soon!! I know I'm excited:)

No Item transfers and no build transfers
We are currently investigating build moves to NEXUS but they might just be special cases.
As far as the new SMP goes, as terra said, we are still talking about it internally.

Also, quick question, since I'm not usually around when we reset the map - will you make the old map available for download? Me and a friend had a good thing going on in a secluded area so it'd be nice to be able to keep it in some way.

Probably no map download as SMP's map is 35gb in size. I don't think you would want to download all that just for a small area

Ooh yikes, that's pretty big. I'd be happy to download it (to at least store it somewhere I guess), but I understand that uploading it would be pretty rough... and most people probably wouldn't download the 35gb either XD

If you just wanted to save a small area, you could probably use one of those world downloader mods that saves the chunks around where ur standing to a single player game...

No. There is not much of a reason to keep 1.8 if 1.9 is out.

world downloader saves the chunks up to a 10 chunk radius around the spot you are standing. It saves more chunks as you walk around. It will only download the chunks that the server sends you.

but in 1.9 if you get the elytra, you can FLY in survival. I've done it. there are also new blocks in the end, and when you go to the screen where you select your world, it shows a picture of the beginning of all of the worlds.

I just thought of something... Is the Lobby going to get reset too? Cause it would be a shame if the general public (read: non-staff members) were never able to see the rest of the lobby aside from the tiny part where the portals are...

It's most likely that it will not be reset, because Nolz is probably still working on it. And I think there's *big* plans in place for Lobby. It might be tweaked to be compatible with 1.9, but the build will remain.

I was trying out another server that was on 1.9 and it was a nightmare...the Admins were crazy. Everyone had to build near spawn and no bases could be built until spawn area town was finished...When I asked why they said I was stirring drama and banned me from server lol. Please get World of Minecraft to 1.9 soon!
