World of Minecraft Survival server mining

Hello, I recently bought Minecraft Alpha yesterday, and I downloaded the World of Minecraft survival server software for it. I loaded it up, and it was working fine, but I couldn't mine, I couldn't remove/add any blocks to the world. Anyone know why??

the software you downloaded is the minecraft survival server software
your problem: evreyone has it the 4 chunks around the spawn are broken you cant delete/place blocks in them
if you move outside that area you can build/destroy things
