Just thought I'd introduce myself before I go on, I just joined today and only found out about this forum a few minutes ago as I needed some professional assistance. I haven't played Minecraft since I gave it up last year, I'm considering returning and pre-ordering the PS3 version.
However, the reason for me quiting in the first place was due to people randomly knocking down my house walls and killing me relentlessly, I claimed my land and I thought it was not possible for any player to harm you once you're on your own claimed land? That didn't stop people from kicking my butt on this game.
I'm quite rusty considering I haven't played in ages so how can I do my best to ensure nobody does this on my own land? Is it possible they were modders or are you allowed to do that?
Please help, thank you.

No I don't believe I recall, all I know is I couldn't destroy other player property or claim over their land but they could with mine and I had no idea why. It might've been a bukkit server. Thanks anyway.

If you want to play without people knocking your house down, try our server. The IP's play.womjr.com and it's SMP, so there's no fighting at all, so building is a lot easier. You can whitelist at http://www.worldofminecraft.com/Minecraft_Servers
We also have a CMP server, which is creative mode.

It completely depends on what server you were playing on. Every server has different rules and plugins that allow different things. Do you know what you were playing on?
